Obituary for Arlene Jackson (Sage)

Annie "Arlene" (Sage) Jackson
Oct 8, 1918 - Sept 22, 2021
Arlene was born at her home on Whistle Bare Road in Galt. She was the middle child of 11 children (2 girls and 9 boys) born to Lorne Sage and Ada (Schweitzer) Sage. Growing up and in her adult years Arlene enjoyed cooking, canning, baking, knitting, gardening, helping to make maple syrup and assisting with the various chores required in operating a farm. Arlene continued to stay involved in farming activities at her brother's farm on Alps Road until she was in her nineties. She came from a family that enjoyed many sports and participated on baseball teams, bowling leagues and other sporting activities. Her favourite sport was baseball and she was a dedicated Blue Jay fan watching every game when she could. She always had her backup transistor radio at hand in case the TV antenna or satellite failed. Arlene married Robert (Bob) Jackson in 1955 and they moved to the village of Blair where she continued to live until recently. She and Bob looked forward to going to the family cottage in Long Point where they enjoyed boating, fishing, and getting together with friends. Arlene was predeceased by her parents, siblings, and husband. She will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and families; her goddaughter, husband and family and many good friends and neighbours who cared about her and share many fond memories. Arlene passed away Sept 22, 2021 just shy of her 103rd birthday. Special thanks to the professionals at Waterloo Wellington LHIN (and homecare agencies) and Dr Sandor and team who worked alongside family, friends and neighbours to make it possible to follow Arlene's wishes to remain in her home as long as she could. Very special thanks and gratitude to the excellent staff at Innisfree House who took over Arlene's care for the last few weeks. As per her wishes, private funeral arrangements for Arlene will be handled through Wm Kipp Funeral Home (Ayr Chapel). Donations in memory of Arlene can be made to: Innisfree House would be appreciated. Online condolences and donations may be arranged through www.wmkippfuneralhome.com.
