Obituary for Donald Gordon "Don" Graham

Donald Gordon Graham, in his 99th year, passed naturally and peacefully into the Lord’s care on Tuesday, March 26th at Telfer Place, Paris.

Don was born on February 7th, 1926, in South Mountain, Ontario, to Annie Mae Blow and Samuel Martin Graham, descendants of Northern Irish and English Immigrants. He grew up on the family farm and the lessons and pace of farm life informed his character. He graduated from Guelph University (O.A.C) and had a long career in food manufacturing that culminated as Plant Manager at York Farms in Brantford, Ontario. He loved to travel and attend theatre and concerts. He sustained a wonderful circle of friends including dear friends Lloyd and Margaret Smart, the Bridge Group, Progressive Dinners, morning Bible Study, and of course, the earlier Curling Groups where he met Maxine. He sang in choirs his whole life and did his best to keep up with Maxine. He was an active member of the Paris Presbyterian Church for over 50 years and was also an active volunteer in the Paris community. He is fondly remembered for his lovely and kind demeanor, his faith, his commitment to our community, and for his gardens and fabulous cooking that could bring everyone to the table for conversation.

A special thank you to the loving staff at Telfer Place for the care and consideration they have given Don and Maxine for almost 10 years. He passed away at Home.

Don will be dearly missed by Maxine, his wife, partner and companion for over 62 years. Don was predeceased by his younger siblings; Jean Brown (George) and the Reverend Murray Graham (Phyllis Martin). Father to David (Kelly Skerritt), Peter and Susan (Jeff Resnick), Father-in-law to Michelle Velenosi (Bobby) and Gramps to Jordan, Amber (Austin Bakker), Aberielle, David Jr, Josh, Justice, Olivia, and Henry. Great Gramps to Angela, Fauna, Onalee, Jason (JJ) and Julia who arrived early to meet her Great Gramps. He will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at a later date.
