The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Doris Buckles can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Dear Jeff, George, Jo, Brenda and Anna, Since Brenda's call, I have been remembering the last few times I have seen Doris. Of course, it was many years ago and Henry was still alive. They were just a fantastic loving couple and they seemed so happy together. Doris was such an easy going, gentle and nice person. She was always energetic and smiling. I spoke to her on the phone a few years ago and she sounded like she had never aged. It seems that everything is so fast now. With all the computers and electronic communications, time remains something that we can't stop and it appears to me that getting older is keeping me busier than ever. Maybe I have too many priorities but it seems very difficult to stay in touch even with my own brother and my close friends. I am now 62 and Jean-Pierre turned 60 in April. We had dinner with our wives a couple weeks ago and we are both doing fine as well as our wives. We only have our 19-year-old daughter (Julia) at home with us now. Jean-Thomas (28) and Louis-David (24) are in the medical field and Antoine (26) is a business lawyer. Jean-Thomas got married in 2016 and they now have a little girl. Her name is Livia. As I said to Brenda, my sister Michèle is living in her own appartment but she is being take care of by a government program. She never had a normal life. She has a little job that keeps her busy. She reads a lot, likes to watch TV and seems to be happy. I am still very active as an ENT surgeon. I am involved in the Quebec City university hospital where I teach residents and do clinical research. I keep my fingers crossed but I don't have any health issues right now. Emmanuelle would like me to slow down and enjoy life. Let's say this is my goal over the next three years. As I said to Brenda, this is summertime and half the medical staff is on vacation. I am on call from August 17 to 24. Emmanuelle and I are deeply saddened by Doris' death. We would like to express our sincere sympathy to everyone in your family. May God help you during this sad time. Sincerely, Jacques
