Passed away peacefully at the Brantford General Hospital, Brantford, ON, on Friday May 5, 2023, at the age of 70 years. Cherished husband to his darling, Lynda Stratford (nee Warner). Loving father to Terri Farquhar (Gary), Tina Stratford-Plas (Jim) and Thomas Stratford (Claire). Much loved grandfather to Brooke, Taylor and Ian; Johnathan; Larkin and Morgan; and to his step-grandson Ryan. Sadly missed by his sisters, Sandra Donnan (the late Jack), Laura Redford (Denis) and Wendy Lichti (Daryl), as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Leslie Lloyd and Grace Mary Stratford (nee Elliott), his sister June Clark and her husband Bill, as well as his devoted loyal dog, Rainer.
Gerry was a good man known for his storytelling and his sense of humor. He was always up for a few beers and a good laugh. Gerry was a man you could count on if you needed a hand. He was very crafty and was always making furniture out of wood that he would give away. He had a love for fixing motors and engines. He always said that if it had wheels and an engine, he could drive it. Gerry was a hard worker, and for several years, proudly owned his own company, “Gerry Stratford Excavating and Paving”. His passion for tractors and farming eventually led him to a career at Wessuc Inc. Gerry enjoyed canning and was an excellent cook. He loved to share his pickles, jams and preserves with everyone. Gerry will be dearly missed.
In keeping with Gerry’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be planned and take place at a later date.
