Obituary for Helena Mae "Mae" Midgley (Evans)

Midgley, Mae
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Helena Mae Midgley on May 19th 2023 at Chartwell Nursing Home in Kitchener. Helena enjoyed a full life with a passion for family, friends, curling and golf. Beloved wife of the late Durward Midge Midgley for over 60 years. Loving mother to her daughter Elizabeth Zee Nojd and her late son John Midgley (Betty). Cherished grandmother of Holly, Ryan (Jacqueline), Jake, Madeline, and Carly (Bryan), and great-grandmother of Leo, Lola, Josephine and Georgia. She will be missed by many, especially her sister Liz Ripley, as well as her nieces and nephews Ellen Taylor (David), Marsha (Jim), Carrie (Ted), Dava, Bill (Angela), Laurie (Mike), Christine, and Judy Midgley.
Born in 1929 to Davey and Ida Evans, Helena grew up with five siblings in Paris Ontario after her parents arrived from Ireland.
Helena was a joy to be with, whether playing cards, riding a roller coaster, or winning championships for her golf and curling teams. A proud matriarch of the Midgley clan, she had a zest for life, a great sense of humour, and a sassiness that everyone enjoyed. The world is a sadder place without "Mae".
Many thanks to Chartwell staff for the wonderful care this past year.
As per Helena’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Arrangements entrusted to Wm. Kipp
