Obituary for John Cowan Black

At Brantford General Hospital on Wednesday, June 19, 2013; John Cowan Black of Paris, in his 92nd year. John was born in Kamsack, SK and grew up in Niagara Falls. During the Second World War, he served in the Canadian Armed Forces in England and Europe at CAF Base Post Offices. Following his return to Canada in 1946, he worked in the Niagara Falls Post Office. He and Louella were married in 1950 and immediately enrolled in London College of Bible and Missions. They settled in Paris and served with Christian Service Centres teaching Bible in public schools in the Paris area. John was a longtime employee at the Wabco Plant in Paris until his retirement. He was a Founding Member of Grace Gospel Church in Paris. John was predeceased by his parents James and Isabella Black, his brother Robert, his wife Luella and their son John Paul. He is survived by his daughter Elaine Abbott; grandsons Jonathan Abbott (Melanie Hammill) and Donald Abbott the 2nd; and great grandchildren Sammy, Seth, Ashlee, Liam and Donald the 3rd. Friends will be received at the Wm. KIPP FUNERAL HOME, 184 Grand River Street North, Paris on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. where funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Wayne Foster officiating.
