Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Margaret Cochrane, sister Mary Donovan (Les), and brothers, Alden (Elizabeth), and George (Madeline).

In the 1950s, John was known as “the film man” for the Brant County Board of Education, becoming a principal at several schools and then completing his fulfilling career working with special needs children until he retired in 1985. John was a lifetime elder and active member at Central Presbyterian Church in Brantford. In retirement, John was a very active volunteer for several charities including the Red Cross Meals on Wheels, the Bible Society and the Blessing Centre. He also found time to learn to play the violin and enjoyed attending fiddle camps in Shelburne. John was never happier than when he was travelling with Sarah, or when arranging special educational family events for his grandchildren, especially on Canada Day. John’s deep faith in God and immeasurable gratitude for both his life and for other people became inspirational blessings to his whole family.

John’s family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all of the kind and thoughtful caregivers on the Grand River and Twin River units at Park Lane Terrace for treating John like their own family member.

Visitation at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 184 Grand River St. N. on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 12-2 PM. Service at 2:00 PM., followed by a time of fellowship and refreshments. Spring Interment Ayr Cemetery.
