Obituary for John Edward "Jack" Verity

Verity, John “Jack” Edward
Of Paris, passed away peacefully, at Brantford General Hospital on Friday June 5, 2020 in his 90th year. Predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Buchanan - 1989) and brother Douglas (2007). Jack lived his entire life in Paris and was a long time resident of West River St, he supported many Paris clubs and organizations. He was a member of the Paris Curling Club and the Paris Lawn Bowling Club. He held many office positions, ending his working career at Gates in Brantford. Jack’s love of sports led him to both refereeing, and umpiring, and following the hockey career of his bother, Douglas (Red Verity). He was very proud of his older brother’s achievements. His other interested were the Lighthouse Theatre in Port Dover, the Stratford Theatre, a good euchre game, and celebrations at The Olde School Restaurant in Paris. Another favourite activity was the weekly Tim’s coffee and apple fritter. Jack’s stories about the West River Street Gang always brought a smile to his face. His knowledge about gardening, especially growing tomatoes, will live on with his neighbours. Jack will be fondly remembered by many.
Thank you to the staff at Queensview Retirement Community in Paris where he lived for last few years, and the staff on B6 in the Brantford General Hospital for their care and compassion.
A Private gathering was held with interment Paris Cemetery beside his wife Mary.
