Obituary for Josephine Muriel Perrin (Hitchman)

PERRIN, Josephine Muriel (Hitchman). - Peacefully, at Stedman Community Hospice, on February 22, 2022 in her 97th year. Josie was predeceased by her husband Glenwood Frances (2010). Loving mum to Nancy Richardson (Ross) of BC, Martin (Karen) of BC, and Christine Hazell (David) of Paris; cherished grandma to Scott, Laura (Jeff), Curtis (Rachel), Emily (Mitch), Madeline, Liam, Andrew and great- grandma to Reuben, Oria and Taika; Dear sister-in-law to Lorna (Reuben) Wallace, Pat Perrin and Jean Perrin. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents William and Caroline Hitchman of England, her granddaughter Natalie Perrin (1991), and siblings Isabel, Charles, Hannah, Dorothy, Caroline, Barbara and half siblings Christopher and Florence.
Josie grew up in Gloucestershire, England, and worked as a children's nurse during WW II. In 1947 she emigrated to Canada having been hired as a nanny in Port Arthur for C.D. Howe's family. She moved to Toronto and met Glen, marrying in 1953. They lived in Bramalea from 1961 to 1989 when they retired to Paris.
Josie was an expert in knitting and needlework and will be remembered for her wonderful shortbread cookies. Over the years she was a frequent traveler back to England to visit her sisters and nieces and nephews. She doted on her grandchildren in her later years and was very generous to those in need.
Private family funeral at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Brantford. Interment at St. James Anglican Cemetery, Paris.
