Obituary for Karen Fay Clarkson (Grealis)

Clarkson, Karen Fay (nee Grealis) -

Peacefully, at Stedman Community Hospice – Hankinson House, on Wednesday December 14, 2022, a life-long resident of Paris, in her 68th year passed with family by her side.

Beloved wife of 44 years to the late Larry Clarkson; loved mother to Nicole Clarkson (John Short) and Nathan Clarkson (Danielle Ambeau-Clarkson); cherished Grandma to Maddison, Charlotte, Bryson, John Jr. and Margaret; a wonderful daughter to Olive Grealis (Bob Lundy) and the late Tom Grealis; a dear sister to Christine Jasper, Carol Daniels (David), and Tamara Grealis (Marios Tenentes). Also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she was admired by.

Karen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and dog owner. Who was always willing to listen to you, open her home to host family, try new things and lend a helping hand. She was passionate about animals and their welfare. Her love of dogs led her to a successful career as a dog trainer and caregiver opening a local business in 1999 called Pet-D-Gree. She took great pride in dealing with dogs and their people.

Karen was passionate about her small business and also took on a second career as a Realtor for Royal LePage Action Realty in 2004. She successfully handled both careers, highlighting her strong work ethic and dedication to all her clients. She will be missed by many people and animals whose lives she has touched.

The family is grateful to the many professionals that cared for Karen; Tracy Sage from CBI Home Health who regularly visited the home; Dr. Anil Kapoor from St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Dr. Aly – Khan Lalani from Juravinski Cancer Centre and all the staff and volunteers at Stedman Hospice – Community Outreach and In-Patient program for their excellent care and compassion that was provided while supporting her in her journey.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at Bethel Community Hall (154 Bethel Rd. Paris, ON) on Friday January 6, 2023 from 1-5 PM. Eulogies and stories will be offered at 4:00 PM

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Lifecare Foundation - Stedman Community Hospice or the Brant County SPCA in Karen’s memory would be appreciated by the family.
