Obituary

FRASER, Kenneth D. “Ken”
A cattle exporter, hockey and baseball enthusiast and well-known member of the Ayr hockey community passed peacefully at Stedman Community Hospice on August 20, 2019 in his 78th year. Ken will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Jean (Ford), his daughters Leanne (Kevin) McComb and Julie (Duane) Firminger. Proud and loving Papa to Megan & Logan McComb and Takoma & Trey Firminger. Also survived by his brother-in-law Don Myers (Cindy), his father-in-law Bob Ford, sisters-in-law Shirley Ford and Nancy (Dean) Zincone as well as many special nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Donald & Alma Fraser, sisters Margaret Myers and Carolyn Fraser, mother-in-law Marion Ford, brother-in-law Larry Ford and his niece Amanda Zincone.
Ken operated K.D. Fraser Livestock Ltd. on his farm south of Ayr for 33 years. His love of hockey led him to be an integral part of the Ayr hockey community. He began his involvement in 1973 as the Executive Director of the Ayr Rockets Hockey Club followed by years of involvement within the minor hockey organization. He then became the first president and founding member of the Junior Hockey Club, the Ayr Centennials. In addition to his love for all things sport, Ken enjoyed spending his free time playing euchre with friends and in the Men’s Euchre Club.
Family and friends will be received at Ayr Chapel. Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 183 Northumberland St. Ayr, on Sunday, August 25, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A private family service to follow with interment at Ayr Cemetery.
Should friends and family desire, memorial donations to Stedman Community Hospice or Arnold Anderson Sport Fund would be appreciated.
Online condolences and donation may be arranged through www.wmkippfuneralhome.com or by contacting WM. Kipp 519 632 8228

On behalf of the Steenbergen family (Steenbergen Livestock) we would like to extend our sincere condolences. Ken and our father John did a lot of business together and I think they enjoyed each others friendship. Ken always had a smile on his face. May your memories help you through your time of grief. I got a reality check today when I read about Kens death. We forget how Father Time gets us all! Our veterinary clinic worked for Ken for decades performing normal vet. medicine but a lot of export work . He and Jean were part of our veterinary family. My condolences to all the Fraser family.
