Obituary for Marjorie Lorraine Neilson (Wilton)

Neilson, Marjorie
On June 27, 2021, Marjorie Neilson passed away peacefully after a brief illness, at the age of 96.
Marjorie Lorraine Wilton was born and raised in Toronto. Following graduation from East York Collegiate, she became an executive assistant to a manufacturer’s agent on Bay Street.
In 1947, she married, James Gamble (Jim) Neilson, a returning war veteran. In 1951, the couple moved to Paris with their first child, Susan, where Jim took up his life career as a plant manager at Penmans Ltd. Marjorie’s second and third children, Jim Junior and Andrew, were born in Paris.
Throughout their life together, Marjorie and Jim had an active social life with many friends who enjoyed dances and other gatherings. She was a member of the Lion’s Club and a regular parishioner at St. James Church in Paris. As a tall and attractive brunette, she was readily recognized by the townspeople, and even on her travels to other centers. She was blessed with good health throughout her life, until her very last days.
Marjorie was predeceased by her loving husband Jim after their 56 years of marriage, and by her beloved son Andrew who died tragically at the age of 18.
Marjorie is survived by her sister Dawn Currie; her daughter Susan Dalton of Paris; Susan’s children Sarah (Mark Pritchard), Rebecca (Scott Wojcik), and Rob Dalton (Heaven-Leigh); by Susan’s grandchildren, Ashley, Madison, Hayden, Ashton, Rainah, William and Rachel; by Marjorie’s son Jim, a Justice of the Court of Queen’s Bench in Edmonton; Jim’s wife Maggie; their children Michelle Neilson (Brent Calaway), James Patrick Neilson and Monique Neilson (Matthew Church); and their grandchildren Avery and Arden.
Marjorie’s family extend their sincere thanks to all of the staff at Telfer Place and the Willett Hospital in Paris, who provided excellent and loving care for Marjorie in her last years.
A private funeral service and interment took place on Friday July 2, 2021. A celebration of Marjorie’s life for her family and friends will be arranged later in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations in her memory may be made to St. James Anglican Church, Paris.
