Condolence From: Shirley M. Lawrence
Condolence: Folks, this name may not be familiar to you. I am in my 78th year, the only remaining member of my family, but your Mom passed through my life and left a bit of her, and many memories. Your mom came to live with us in Eagle Place (Huron Street), during the second world war. She worked in the Aircraft division at Cockshutt Plow. My dad and grandfather (who incidentally lived with us), both worked there too, as did many Eagle Place folks. I always said I grew up in a hotel, because with my two brothers (one killed over Holland, (Air Force), and one who married and moved in next door to raise his family. As well as your mom at the same time two other ladies came (from the west I believe), Maude Paul (later married an air force chap), and Audrey ? who married a sailor as did your mom. I remember living with a house full of laughter, good times and many memories. I am sure each of those people left a bit of themselves with me. As I age now, there is much laughter in my life. I'm not sure and there is no one left in my family, but I believe your mom was married during her stay with us, but I remember your dad being home on leave and I remember the white ribbons on his naval uniform at the time of their marriage. My condolences on your loss, and stay together as a family. My prayers are with you. Oh, by the way, I'm not sure whether you knew about Mary's hatred for worms. If it was a rainy day, and there could possibly be worms on the sidewalk, she would not, definitely not, go to work that day!!!

Condolence From: Rob Haggart
Condolence: To the Family, I didn't know who to address this to since I seem to know so many of you Ruttans. I'm sorry to hear of the loss of Mary. I will always remember how many neckers she made for the 1st Paris Scout Troop...... she must have made hundreds of them over the years. She did this out of pure kindness with hardly ever a thanks or reward. This is the truest definition of community service and exemplifies what her sons Bob and Marty passed on to us and is something that I will pass on to my sons. I will always keep my 1st Paris necker as a reminder of how I should treat my fellow man. Thank you Mary.
