Life Story for Albert Edward "Edward" Baker

Baker, Albert Edward



Peacefully, at Telfer Place, Paris, ON, on May 16, 2006, Albert Edward Baker in his 89th year. Predeceased by his beloved wife Florence in July 2005. Cherished father of Linda, Christine, Peter and Gordon; father-in-law and dear friend of Doug (Skinner), Richard (Cox), Susan (McDonald), Jenny (Cressman) and Lindsay (Strachan); loving grandfather of Sandra, Alan, Jeffrey (Skinner), Tamara, Jason, James and Tricia (Cox) and Zachary (Baker); dear great-grandfather of Emerson, Jason, Jackson, Allison, Brayden and Kennedy; treasured grandfather-in-law of Ron, Bobbi, Thomas, Brandi and Launa as well as by his many nieces and nephews. His sister Kathleen will sadly miss him. Predeceased by his sister Mildred. Ed was a proud veteran of WW2 and served as a Captain in the Royal Canadian Artillery in England, Holland and Belgium from 1941 through 1945. For many years he was an active member of the Anglican Church in Waterloo, at the Church of the Holy Saviour, and previously at Holy Trinity in Thornhill and St. John the Baptist in Pointe Claire, Québec. Ed was an enthusiastic woodworker and his children and grandchildren all treasure step-stools, spurtles and giraffe note holders. He was an avid curler, golfer and bridge player. Ed will be fondly remembered by many friends as well as colleagues from his career in the insurance industry. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held Friday, June 9, 11 am at Carfrae Chapel, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. Private interment with Florence will occur immediately afterwards in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The family would like to sincerely thank the gracious and helpful staff at Telfer Place for caring for both our father and mother. The Canadian Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation will graciously accept donations in Edward's name.
