Life Story for Alexander John "Alex" Watson

Alexander John "Alex" Watson
Watson, Alexander John, CD
Alex was called home by his maker and redeemer on May 13, 2010 in Brantford, Ontario. A first generation Canadian, born to Scottish immigrants May 23, 1929 in Drumheller, Alberta, he was a long-time resident of both Paris and Windsor, Ontario.
Alex was predeceased by his beloved wife of 42 years, June, his parents Alex and Margaret, brother David and sister’s Margaret and Ann. He proudly lives on through his children John (Sandra), Mary Jane, James and David (Cynthia) and wonderful grand children Cameron, Ryan, Emily, Heather, Amanda, Mia and Lily.
A retired accountant, Alex enjoyed a lifelong passion for music and was an accomplished alto saxophonist performing in a number of bands, orchestras and musical recordings.
As a member of the Canadian Armed Forces [reserves / militia] he was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration (CD) for long and exemplary service. Over a forty-year period he had served in or with H.M.C.S. Hunter, H.M.C.S. Esquimalt, The Governor General’s Horse Guards Band and The Queen’s Own Rifles Regimental Band.
While serving with the Commissionaires, his handling of an incident at Lester B. Pearson Airport in Toronto ultimately resulted in his being awarded a Commandant’s Commendation in a ceremony hosted by The Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
Alex was interested in all things historical and, in recent years, had enjoyed traveling with friends and his musical associations in North American and Europe.
Cremation has taken Place. Friends may join with the family at Paris Presbyterian Church (164 Grand River St. N. Paris) on Friday May 28, 2010 from 10-11 am. A memorial service will follow.
