Condolence: I called her Grandma Lane. Over thirty years ago I met Grandma through her daughter Lynda and realized that I went to school with her grandchildren, Ken and Susan.
"What a Lady" She has given so much to all of us and touched our lives in so many ways. Each and every one of us has a memory that we will cherish and carry with us. I'm going to share some of mine with you.
Sitting on the back porch on Westriver Street under the wisteria having tea and cookies.
In 1976 my brother was in a bad accident. Everyday at lunch time Frank would run me to the hospital to check on him. When we returned Grandma always had tea and cookies ready for me.
When each of my daughters were born they met Grandma Lane and we would have tea and cookies. My daughters were given sweater and bonnet sets. Someday my grandchildren will wear them.
Every year at Christmas I received six mincemeat tarts to take home. I am not going to tell you how many I ate with my tea.
Tuesday's was Grandma Lanes's day, we would go for lunch and then to the card shop. Sometimes we would have to get a lot of cards. Then it was back to Grandma's for tea and cookies.
A couple of years ago at Chreismas my daughter and I took Grandma to Walmart. It was very busy so my daughter left and came back with a wheelchair and told Grandma it was her chariet. We were so silly that day laughing and carring on like we were all 24 years old. It was then back to Grandma's for more tea and cookies. I will never forget the sparkle in her eyes that day.
To me and I am sure to you she was a very loving, caring and giving lady. Grandma gave me many years of friendship and cherished memories, which I will always hold dear.
