Spotton (Hughes), Betty Muriel (nee Smart)
Peacefully, after a valiant struggle with Alzheimer’s, at Park Lane Terrace, Paris, on Wednesday February 10, 2016, formerly of Toronto, in her 86th year. Betty immigrated to Canada in 1956 with her husband and first child, settling in the Toronto area. She relocated to Milton and was very active with the Anglican Church there. She was a successful bookkeeper and seamstress, responsible for many weddings and stage productions for her church. Beloved wife to the late Esmond Hughes (1977) and the late Bill Spotton (1995); loved Mum to Graham (Anne Marie) and Marten (Judy); cherished Nana to Cameron, Darren, Kristofer, Alexis (Ben), and Tyler and great Nana to Georgia; Also survived by brothers Ted, David, Dennis and sister Stella in England and sister Shirley in the USA.
Cremation has taken place. Betty was known for her lively personality who loved being with family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at the Wm. Kipp Funeral Home, 184 Grand River St. N. Paris, on Wednesday February 17, 2016 at 11:00 AM.
