Condolences

Condolence From: Joan Wieder
Condolence: To all of Charlie's Family:

I have been honoured by Charlie's love and friendship ever since I moved to Ayr. He and Kay were my first Ayr friends. I am saddened by his death, but know that he is rejoicing with Kay in another dimension. Charlie was an honest and honourable gentleman whose faith was a beacon for all those with whom he came in contact. His ready smile and kindness will be missed by us all.

Condolence: Dear Kathleen (Liz),
I am very sorry to learn that your father has passed away. I only wish that I'd gotten to know him more, if for no other reason than to pick up some watercolour painting tips. Regretfully, I am unable to be present to pay last respects to Mr. Nixon, but I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you, and Dave, and your brother Charles, and his wife, as well as the rest of Charlie's family.
Sincerely,
Richard A. S. Pieprzak

Condolence From: Ontario Archaeological Society
Condolence: On behalf of all of Charlie's friends at the Ontario Archaeological Society and the London Chapter of the same, I would like to express my condolences to the family on Charlie's passing. I count it a privilege to have known Charlie for 30 years now and have worked with him a number of times on various archaeological excavations as well as the business of the Society. Charlie was the first president of the London Chapter back in 1977 and was instrumental in giving it a strong start and the impetus that is evident right to this day. His survey work was exemplary and of the highest professional standards. He was always fascinated in precontact lifeways and did a number of experiments in fire and tool production. His atl-atl (throwing stick) proved highly entertaining back at the first London Chapter picnic bringing a great deal of enjoyment as we fumbled with the proper technique to make it work properly. I recall at the time thinking enviously of those who could call him "father" Charlie will be sadly missed here.

Condolence From: Steve Martin
Condolence: It was my pleasure to garden with Charlie at Telfer Place for the last three years. His presence always gave me a smile, all the more so as I came to know more of his life which to me was one of admirable distinction. Charlie always had a smile for me and thanked me for our seed planting, potting up and so on. His painting spoke to me of a man whose creative spirit shone until the end of his life. I know that his surviving family and his friends will have happy memories of a life well lived. Condolences from the Telfer Place garden guy.

Condolence: Chuck, so sorry to hear of your loss. We remember meeting your father years ago. He was an interesting character, just like his son. We know you will all miss him dearly. Hope to hear from you soon.
