Condolences

Condolence From: Barry Kingdon
Condolence: Dear Hancock family,

Yesterday, I learned of Don's passing, and I wish to extend my sincere condolences. As a former Member of the RCMP, I first met Don in Ottawa where we shared an interest in aviation as members of the Ottawa Radio Control Club. In fact Don was my first instructor. Don was a quiet technical specialist when it came to the aviation field. Indeed he was ahead of his time in the early 1980s when he installed a camera in the fuselage of a model aircraft and took ariel photographs of the flying field. I lost contact with Don over the years due to frequent transfers with the Force. Don will always be remembered.

Condolence: Dear Jean and family, I have just recently learned of Don's passing... he and my Dad, Jack Schroder were great friends and shared a passion for aviation. Dave and I had a few opportunities to share in some of their aviation events and loved to see their smiles at the conclusion of a successful day of flying. Our condolences go out to all of you today... Dave and Diane Irwin

Condolence: Dear Jean I have only now learned of Don's passing which occurred while I was in a cycle of hospital treatment; I have only recently resumed my normal activities. I had exchanged e-mails with Don earlier this year and was pleased to read a most entertaining story which he sent my way. I had hoped to visit Paris this summer with my original model aircraft, a copy of Don's camera plane, the design for which he generously shared with me along with providing my first r/c flight lessons. I am saddened to realize that that visit will not take place, but I wanted you to know the great esteem in which Don was held, not only in the r/c world, but in his professional life in the RCMP. I feel privileged to have known him, both on and off the job. Please accept my belated condolences, Jean... Peter Kember Ottawa
