Myers, Doreen Elizabeth
Passed away peacefully on February 26th, 2011 in her 87th year. Loving wife of the late Orville “Rusty” Myers, younger sister of the late Donald Stewart and survived by brother Jack. Daughter of the late Mary and William Stewart. Beloved mother of Ruth Hare, Kathleen Thornhill and Edward Hare (Diane Ruest). Cherished Nana of Lisa, Charlie, Laura, Jeremy and Tina, and great-Nana of Zack, Kaine, James, Griffin, Kalli, Lilyian and Cobain.
Doreen spent several years as secretary at Rexdale United Church, and in the late 1960s, joined the office staff at Thistletown Collegiate Institute, where she became a well known presence to many students. Following her marriage to “Rusty”, many happy years were spent visiting friends and family, cottaging and travelling. In her latter years, Doreen was a resident of the St. Hilda’s Towers, Highway Terraces and Leisureworld Etobicoke. The matriarch of our family circle will be forever missed.
Visitation will be held at Newediuk Funeral Home, 2058 Kipling Ave. , Etobicoke on Tuesday, March 1st from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Memorial service at Martingrove United Church, 75 Pergola Rd., Etobicoke on Wednesday, March 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the charity of your choice
