The Pelvin family was not a large one, but there were lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. I am 4 years older than Jim, (JImmy) so he was my little cousin. Thats what we called him... little Jimmie. He was also much shorter than the other cousins. We had the usual Christmas parties at various relatives homes over the years, and Jimmy was alway there, as cute as a button with his long black curly hair. He had a great laugh, sort of mischievous, and everyone enjoyed his company. My mom used to drag my sister Pat and myself down to his house, every summer at least once, and then walk us down the (100?) Sunnyside stairs, to Sunnyside beach below, on Lake Ontario. IT WAS FREEZING... every time.. but I guess we enjoyed it somehow. The best part came later when we would walk to the end of Jimmies street, and stand on the railway bridge when a train came by. I am talking STEAM TRAINS.. Thundering Monsters, spewing mountains of smoke and ashes everywhere, and when it sped by under the bridge, we would be totally engulfed in that junk. I dont know why it didnt do damage to our lungs. We litterly could not see each other. .. and the noise !! Laughter. Imagine though, two young boys playing out on the streets of Parkdale, on their own, on top of locomotives. I think that was special. I have nothing but fond memories of Jimmie. His mother Grace, my aunt, and my fathers sister, was the sweetest lady you would every want to meet. She had a relationship with Jesus, and I know she has drawn Jimmie to heaven to see her now, in all her beauty, once again. Jim loved his mom, and I know he really loved her.
