John (Jack) Horace Hutchinson

Died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton on Sunday, June 17, 2012; born November 25, 1923 in Willett Hospital, Paris, Ontario; Cherished husband for 63 years to Mabel (Holder) Hutchinson who predeceased him in March 2012, and loving father to his six sons: Terry (Barbara), Bruce, Brent (Debbie), Gary (Lori), Kevin (Geri) and Robin (Paula); proud grandfather to Bryan (Angela), Darryl (Sharon), John (Hanna), Mark (Katie), Stephanie, Scott, John, Alison, Rachel, Michael, Calvin, Andrew and Natasha; predeceased by grandson Jordan; great grandfather to Taylor, Dannica, Ashton, Kirstin and Dalton; the third child of four to his parents, John and Maude Hutchinson, Jack is sadly missed by sister Eleanor (Spencer) Elmes, and sister-in-law Jean Hutchinson, wife to his predeceased older brother Lorne Hutchinson; also predeceased by his elder sister Beatrice and her husband Joe Plumstead; grieved by sisters-in-law Beth (the late Rev. Clifford) Waite, Nancy (the late David) Edmondson, Eleanor (Ed) Gretzky and brother-in-law Arthur (Carol) Holder; and many cousins, nephews, nieces and their families. For most of his life Jack farmed on the Brant-Oxford Townline at the Blenheim Township 4th Concession. Residents of Paris and Brantford will remember him as the “egg-man” who provided door-to-door delivery of farm fresh eggs for over 10 years. Others will remember him as their long-time school bus driver, first to Drumbo and then Princeton schools. He and his wife retired in 1988 and built a family home on the Townline a couple of kilometres south of the family farm. Later he and Mabel moved into Telfer Place in Paris. Jack’s other passion was music. He was a proud member of the Richwood United Church Choir for almost 50 years and later sang in the Drumbo and District Men’s Choir. The long-time song leader for the Richwood Church Sunday School, Jack also sang at numerous community gatherings. A respected member of his church, throughout the years he served in many positions, including elder, steward, trustee and church treasurer. Friends will be received at the Wm. KIPP FUNERAL HOME, 184 Grand River Street North, Paris on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. where funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Richwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to Hamilton Centre for Kidney Research Foundation or to Richwood United Church.
