Uncle Mary

As a small child growing up in the town of Paris, I remember lots of visits with our cousins and Aunt Mary and Uncle Bill. They were the only relatives that we had living close to us in the area. As the older sister to my father (John), I found it amusing to hear Mary scolding my father when he was misbehaving (which was often) and watching how frustrated she became when he ignored her warnings and how amused my Uncle Bill was by this. I also never understood why the grown ups would laugh when I referred to Mary, that is until I got a bit older and they pointed out that I had been calling her Uncle Mary for years.  In her good-natured way Aunt Mary had just gone along with my mistake and never made a big deal about it.
