HOMICK, STEVE

It is with great sadness the family of Steve Homick announce his passing on June 29, 2013 at the Brantford General Hospital.
Beloved husband of Elaine (Abbott) for 54 years. Loving father of Christine (Rob) Ferrell, Susan (Ron) Gillen, Bradley Homick and Janet (Rob) Runstedler. Proud grandpa of Brandie (Jeremy), Ryan (Brittani) and Karli Ferrell, Brittany and Eden Gillen and Kiera and Riley Runstedler. Survived by mother-in-law, Margaret Abbott of Paris. Also missed by sisters and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Karolina Homick, brothers, Lorne (Ethel) and Stanley and father-in-law Clayton Abbott.

Steve came to Canada from Poland with his family at the age of 9 months and settled in Alonsa, Manitoba, where his family farmed. At the age of 18 Steve followed his father and brother to a new farm in Canning, Ontario, travelling alone in a cattle car with the family’s farm animals. He worked at Massey Ferguson for 25 years and later retired from Inglis. He loved working in his vegetable garden and traveling around the world. He will be remembered as a loving, kind and humorous man who had a great love for his family.
