Obituary for William Ian "Bear" Rutherford

William Ian "Bear" Rutherford
RUTHERFORD- Ian (Bear)
At Brantford General Hospital on Friday, April 26, 2013; William Ian Rutherford of Paris, at the age of 64; loving partner of Linda MacLeod; son of the late Bill and Lil Rutherford; brother of Connie and Rod (Laurie); Uncle Boo to Stephanie (Tom), Eric and 3 great nieces. Ian lived in Paris his whole life and worked as a traffic manager for the Pride of Paris for over 25 years. He was involved with the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29, Paris as a past executive member (and frequent customer). Over many years, he loved being a Paris Star columnist and playing Brantford Flag Football and 29ers Baseball. Building model cars became his hobby of choice as he grew older and less spry. Ian really loved playing trivia of any kind, especially if he won. He was an ardent fan of the Montreal Canadians and New York Yankees. Ian always had a joke and a deep laugh for everyone he met, even if they had heard it before! In recent years, he and Linda were in high demand for many public and private Christmas events as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Little children were in awe of him, even in the off-season when he was seen in restaurants or on the street. Special thanks to Dr. John McDonald and all of the PSW's, nurses and the CCAC who cared for him in his last years. A Celebration of Ian's Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29, 70 William Street, Paris on Saturday, May 18, 2013 from 2-5 PM. Donations in Ian's memory may be made to the Paris Legion or a charity of your choice. Online condolences or donations may be arranged through www.wmkippfuneralhome.com or by contacting Wm.
