Upon receiving yesterdays' Ayr News, I was saddened to read about
Aunt Mabels passing. There are many fond memories of Uncle Jack, &
Aunt Mabel getting together with my parents. Uncle Jack raised
chickens, and delivered eggs. Aunt Mabel raised boys. I helped Dad
pour the concrete for Uncle Jacks new pig barn; it was 'state of the
art' in those days. Life for us as kids was not glamorous. There
were 'chores' . Helping make ends meet, as we could, was as much
an accomplishment, as it was work. A trip to the 'Hutchinson' farm
for a visit, was always filled with excitement. Aunt Mabel would be
in the kitchen, greeting us with her red hair and a never ending
warm happy smile. Her quality of pure goodness is a trait that we
were all fortunate to embrace.
