Condolence From: Laurie Heimbecker
Condolence: Everyday, we have thought of Wendy Jackson. At least once a week, we say," Wonder what Wendy would do about....." Our puppy that we got from Wendy- (our third one from Wendy) is now a year and a half. Ellie's a treasure and we love her dearly. We miss being able to email Wendy our questions and the many photos that we use to share with Wendy. We miss her wisdom, her advice and her. Love The Heimbeckers Jan. 31 2013

Condolence: We just heard the news and are so sorry! We are shocked and saddened. Wendy was a wonderful person and brough us our beautiful Brodie whom we love so much and will treasure always. He is the most gentle, sweet and giving dog and Wendy was just amazing with her Collies. If there is anything we can do, please let us know.
You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Hugs to Casper.

Condolence From: Meaganne Dodds
Condolence: I was so shocked when I heard the news about Wendy it sure came as an incredible shock especially since I had been talking with her (via facebook) the day before. I've grown up knowing Wendy and Robert - one of my fondest memories I have was when my parents were picking up Brandy (Freeheelen Dreamalong Spirit, CGC, TID, TT, CD) in 1990. I was sitting on the floor with my brother Shawn, Wendy had talked to us about how to handle the puppies, Shawn was sitting with a puppy in his lap, while I was laying on the floor with Brandy nibbling my neck - for me it was love at first sight, and I was so happy when Wendy said we could have that puppy to take home.

I have lots of fond memories from our weekends when the OWCA was hosting fun weekends, doing various tests (herding, carting, temperament, CGC, etc); those weekends were a lot of work, but it was worth it seeing the teams working together, but also getting to hang out with Collie friends, who were passionate about our breed.

Wendy was always there encouraging me, whether it was trying to help calm a very young junior handlers nerves about going into the show ring; helping me with obedience training, and tips; if she wasn't at ring side cheering me on, she always called, or e-mailed to see how we did as a team. When I went off to university we kept in contact through e-mail or face book, exchanging recipes, encouraging words, or just being there to vent to one another.

Wendy was a mentor, friend, but even more then that I considered her my family. Wendy was always encouraging me, with my cooking/baking and being willing to try my "new creations", helping me with dog stuff, but also she really encouraged me with my drawing/sketching/and painting, and helped me work on some of my techniques by offering suggestions if I was having difficulty with getting a certain piece just right. Wendy was always there for me, and I am really going to miss her.

Condolence: As I have read the many condolence messages, there's one thing for sure. Wendy certainly was our collie expert for many people and Wendy also treated us all with great kindness and warmth. I think she communicated with many of us using the computer and I know that we all are better people because of her. Wendy certainly made our world a better place and perhaps God is needing a collie expert up in heaven. Our thoughts are with Wendy's family now and we know how sad her collies will be without her.
Thank you Wendy...for making me a better " collie mom" and for always being there for us. Everytime we see our collie Ellie, know how thankful we are because of you Wendy. Love always, The Heimbeckers from Orangeville
I know that our collies Baillie and Hannah will be barking with joy to see you up there with them.

Condolence From: The Juras and Cadent Collies
Condolence: Wendy has been a wonderful friend for over 25 years. We met at some long forgotten dog show where she was, as always, the first and friendliest greeter of all newcomers at any collie event. As one of the founding members (and driving force) of The Ontario Working Collie Assoc she generously shared her love of all things collie with everyone. Over the last few days as we have reflected on all she meant to us, we haven't had to look farther than our beloved Neela to see the love and generousity of a dear friend. 6 years ago, after suffering another tragic loss here, Wendy called and said "you and the girls need a puppy - come and pick one!" The puppies that Wendy had were 6 weeks old and I had no desire (and no funds) at that time for a puppy. For two weeks Wendy called almost daily to ask when we were coming to pick our puppy. She finally wore me down and the girls were gifted "Freeheelen Bad Girl at Cadent CD,CGN" to help to sooth our wounded hearts. Neela is the girl who got me back into the obedience ring and is now looking after my new granddaughter and indoctrinating my son-in-law in the specialness of sharing life with a collie.Wendy had many friends who are going to miss her presence in our daily lives. Wendy - as you cross the rainbow bridge with the rest of our collie families (2 and 4 footed) know that you live on in our hearts. Robert and Pat - God be with you now, and always, 'til you meet again.

Condolence From: The Dodds Family (Dreamalong Collies)
Condolence: We were so very shocked and saddened to hear of Wendy's passing. Wendy and I have been friends for more than 25 years, and without her help and mentoring, I don't think that "Dreamalong Collies" would ever have come to fruition. Our foundation male and female were both "Freeheelen" born, and over the years we bred to each others dogs several times.
Wendy introduced me to all the 'fun' Collie stuff - herding, carting, Temperament Tests, obedience demonstrations, Canine Good Citizen Tests, nursing home visits, school demos - a whole variety of wonderful things to do with our Collies!!
When a group of us decided to start the Ontario Working Collie Association, Wendy was the driving force behind almost all of our activities. Without her the club would never have made it through our first event! She kept all of us: organized, mostly on time, and smiling - no matter the weather! She kept all the human 'offspring' we dragged along to our Activity weekends busy with jobs that were fun, but also challenging too. Sadly, as they all started getting into the teen years, most of them no longer had time for doggy things, and we lost our main source of free labour...
Wendy's love of our beautiful Collies was apparent in all that she did, and she shared that love along with her extensive knowledge of the breed with any newcomer who was interested.
She was a wonderful mentor, a special friend, and I will never forget all the great times we shared over the years. She always had a ready smile, a helping hand for those who needed it, and a wicked sense of humour!
She has been especially kind over the last 4 or 5 years to my youngest daughter Meaganne, and they have become very close. They shared a great love of their dogs, as well as their artwork. Wendy encouraged Meaganne to keep drawing and painting - to stretch her limits and reach her goals.
To Robert, and her sister Pat (as well as the rest of the family) we offer our deepest, heartfelt condolences. We have been so blessed to have Wendy in our life, and will miss her greatly.
I know she was greeted by all the Freeheelen and Dreamalong crew who have already made their own journey across The Rainbow Bridge ahead of us. They will keep her safe and surrounded by love forever.
With love, Kathy, Mike, and Meaganne Dodds
Dreamalong Collies

Condolence From: Darlene Kerr
Condolence: Robert as I told you on the phone..I can hardly believe Wendy is gone. Then I realized..she is still with us..she will always be with us. Her spirit will always be near for those who cared for her. Wendy was a caring person..towards everyone who had the good fortune to call her their friend. She was a loving person towards her family..and her love of her collies shone through in her beautiful art work. Wendy will not be forgotten..not by anyone who was touched by her kindness and compassion.
In our hearts always Wendy..
Darlene and the rough and smooth collies of Kerhaven.
